The Messianic Psalms: Psalm Os Salmos messiânicos: Salmo 72

This Psalm and Psalm 127 are designated as “Psalms of Solomon.” Este Salmo Salmo 127 e são designados como "Salmos de Salomão". At any rate, the work begins as though petition will be made for the guidance and success of King Solomon himself, and certainly its wishes for accomplishment in God's name could pertain to the worthy ambitions of Solomon, but the reader realizes almost immediately that the more profound reference is to the reign of the King of Kings! While Solomon was “the king's son,” ie the son of David, the direction pertains to Messiah, that greatest Son of David; the epithet became used for the promised Messiah in the passing of time (see Matthew 9:27; 12:23; 21:9,15). The second verse speaks of the “righteousness” and “justice” of Messiah's reign in that Kingdom to come; see Isaiah's inspired announcement regarding the government of earth by the “Child [who] is born” who is the same One as the “Son [who] is given” (see Isaiah 9:6,7). The natural world will radiate health and peace during Messiah's reign, and verse 3 refers to this fact. We must remember that, at this present time, the kingdom of God is not visibly manifested upon earth; it is within its citizens (see Luke 17:20,21). And this is true since the King is within us (see John 14:15-18)! E isso é verdade desde que o Rei está dentro de nós (João 14:15-18)! Therefore, we often pray together as Christ taught us, “Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”(Matthew 5:10). And we know that His will shall not be “done on earth as it is in heaven” until His kingdom comes, and that's why the prayer for His will follows the kingdom's coming. Psalm 72:8 points to the worldwide extent of Christ's kingdom. Salmo 72:8 pontos para a extensão mundial do reino de Cristo. Zechariah 9:10 prophesies of this same completeness. Zacarias 09:10 profetiza desta perfeição mesmo. Verses 9,10, and 15 illustrate the point, and verses 17-19 speak of the everlasting nature of Christ's kingdom.
